Cats are little rebels, and anyone who has enjoyed owning one of these creatures knows they don’t like to follow the rules. You know that cat meme that says, “If I fit, I sit.”? This list is full of examples of cats squeezing themselves into places where they don’t belong! We all know cats love to find hidden resting spots, but some take it to an extreme. You’ll see cats hanging from the ceiling and squeezed into spaces that don’t look as if they could possibly be comfortable, but that’s just the way cats are. As devoted pet owners, some of these pictures may make you throw your hands up and question why you spent your hard-earned money on comfortable cat furniture when they decide to hide in the bathroom closet instead. But we love our cats and their hilarious antics! Be prepared to shake your head and laugh as we take you through these hilarious pics of cats found in places they don’t belong.

Bat Cat

Cats have this uncanny ability to land on their feet, regardless of the angle and height they fell from. This leads to these felines getting themselves into some dangerous situations because they literally have zero fear. This cat managed to get into one of the kitchen cabinets. When his owner came looking for him, he stuck his head through a hole in the bottom of the cabinet to say hello. Cats are known for squeezing their bodies through tiny spaces. While it may have been shocking to see at first, we bet the owner just rolled his eyes and told the cat to get down.

Little Rebel

Cats are tiny butt fierce. Their larger-than-life personalities are one of the many reasons so many of us fall head-over-heels for these adorable creatures. Most cats have zero interest in falling the rules. When you tell your cat not to knock something over, they’re more likely to stare you down as they bat the object off the table. This photo shows a perfect representation of cats being little rebels. Despite a sign very clearly saying not to sit here, the cat is all curled up and comfy. No one should disturb that cat! It’s the rules.

An Unusual Predicament

While cats are naturally attracted to heights and small spaces, they aren’t typically comfortable hanging out upside down. When a dedicated cat owner walked into their bathroom to find their cat in this unusual predicament, they couldn’t help but laugh. The poor cat had been exploring the bathroom when they came across some water left in the tub. As cats do, the poor feline immediately panicked and started climbing to escape the evil water. He then got stuck like this, and the owner had to take a picture of his antics before helping him down.

The Guilty Eyes

Despite all their posturing, cats are deeply sensitive creatures. They instinctively know what their owners are feeling and will respond in a way that makes them feel safe. If you’re feeling sad, your cat will probably come up and purr while rubbing itself on you. But if you’re upset with your cat, they’re likely to hide. One woman came home from a long day at work to find incriminating kitty claw marks on her leather furniture. She immediately scolded the cat, who ran and hid in this trash bucket. Look at those big guilty eyes! But you can never stay mad at their sweet faces for long, so the owner coaxed her cat out of the bucket with a saucer of milk.

It’s Warm Here

Along with all the random places cats find to hide around the home, they often try to find a warm spot to curl up and rest. A dedicated gamer bought some new parts for his PC and was excitedly preparing to install them when he made the ultimate mistake- he left his PC unattended! Naturally, his cat could feel the warmth radiating from the PC and snuggled his way inside. When the man returned, eager to upgrade his PC, he found his cat chilling inside the case. You can’t move a cat when they’re resting, so we’re assuming this gamer simply had to wait until the cat came out. Maybe he coaxed the kitty out with some tuna.

Help Me, Human!

While searching for dark, small places to hide, it’s not unusual for a cat to get itself into trouble. Sometimes they get stuck in places where they shouldn’t be, which leads to them reaching out for their human to save them. Normally, you can tell your cat is stuck somewhere they don’t want to be when you hear a loud meowing coming from a strange place in your home. But this cat saw a small patch of light after getting stuck in the attic and decided to literally reach out to his human. The poor kitty was probably pretty irritated by the time his owner got to him, but don’t worry, the cat was totally fine, aside from being covered in cobwebs!

Twin Rule Breakers

Bringing kittens home from the shelter is a big event for most families. This family wanted to make sure their new babies would feel at home, so they bought a nice cat bed and plenty of toys. However, shortly after arriving home, the kittens disappeared. When the new cat owner finally found them, this sight greeted her. Look at how adorable these kittens are! They’re curled up fast asleep in a dog dish. This definitely isn’t the best place for them to take a nap, but we all know the rule about moving a comfortable cat! The new owner will have to wait until these little ones wake up to show them where they should sleep.

Mistakes Were Made

Cats will climb to insane heights when they feel endangered or chase prey, but they often refuse to come back down. This can be terrifying for cat owners, and unfortunately, you can’t just call your local fire department to come to rescue your pet anymore. The cat in this picture scaled this tall telephone pole, either to escape a threat or chase a bird, and got stuck at the very top. The poor owner was out of his mind with worry, but cats always come back down, eventually. If not, you can always call an experienced arborist to get your cat down for you. But expect to pay well for that service!

One With The Plants

Having houseplants with a cat around is tricky. Some cats will naturally be drawn to the plants and either eat them or destroy them. Of course, you also have to be careful about which types of plants you have indoors, as some can be toxic to cats. The kitty in this picture appears to want to be one with the plants, which naturally makes its owner nervous. The owner moved this houseplant into their bedroom to prevent the cat from climbing to the top and knocking it all over, but of course, this didn’t dissuade the cat at all. We think the owner should probably hang these pots to prevent the cat from climbing the whole thing again, but who knows what other trouble the kitty might get up to.

An Adorable Hiding Spot

Most of the hiding spots we’ve seen so far are places that do not look comfortable. While most owners don’t want their cats laying on their freshly washed towels and linens for hygiene reasons, we can’t deny how absolutely adorable this kitty looks! This sweet cat wanted to curl up somewhere dark, comfortable, and warm, so he chose the linen closet. Of course, the owner probably doesn’t want her freshly washed bedding covered in cat hair, but you can’t deny the happiness on this cat’s face! Maybe the owner should put a cat bed in this closet, although her cat would probably choose to sleep on the towels anyway.

Round And Round They Go

This picture raises a ton of questions. First, let’s explain what’s happening here. These cats are sitting on a baggage return belt in an airport. If you’ve ever been to the airport, then you know these belts rotate slowly so people can find their luggage. Somehow these cats must have gotten out of their carriers and chosen to sit on the baggage return belt. So, onto the questions. Who let these cats out of their carriers? Are they hoping their owners will come to claim them off this belt along with their luggage?

A New Accessory

Cats love to claim things as their own. Most cats stick to stealing strings and empty boxes, but sometimes they get into other random objects around the house. This cat wanted to start a new fashion trend, so he found himself a clothes hanger and stuck his head through it. It kind of looks like an adorable headpiece, but we can’t imagine this is particularly comfortable for the cat. However, the cat looks thrilled with his new look. Plus, he has an empty box to sit in! We can’t imagine the owner had an easy time getting the hanger away from him.

These Are Ours Now

Sometimes, no matter how many toys and pieces of cat furniture you buy, your cats decide they like something of yours the best. Most cats are happy with a piece of string and an empty box, but some will find other things around the home to enjoy. These two adorable kitties crawled into the legs of this pair of jeans. When the owner caught them, the cats looked right up at her as if to say, “What? These belong to us now.” If you look closely at this picture, you’ll see another pair of paws hanging out in the background. We wonder what the third cat was getting up to when this picture was taken.

Hello, Down There!

Some cats just can’t help themselves. When they see a hole leading up into an unexplored area, they simply have to discover what’s going on up there. Can you imagine walking through your building and seeing this adorable face staring back at you? This kitty got into a dropped ceiling and wandered around until they found this little hole. They then proceeded to peer down through the hole with wide, sad eyes. Someone’s going to have to go up there and get that down.

Time To Get Zen

Cats look meditative when they’re resting. Even when they aren’t asleep, cats reach a heightened state of relaxation that makes it nearly impossible to disturb them. It kind of makes sense that a cat would be drawn to this statue. Perhaps the cat wanted to learn more about the wisdom of Buddhism and decided this ancient statue would be the perfect place to start. The cat does look pretty regal sitting there, so we can’t say that this spot doesn’t agree with him!

Giant Cat Or Tiny Home?

The unusual perspective of this picture made us burst out laughing! At first glance, it seems like this is a giant cat invading someone’s home, but it’s really a regular-sized cat exploring a dollhouse. Dollhouses are definitely not the best place for cats because they’ll almost certainly break everything inside, but you can’t really blame the cat for wanting to check it out. Maybe they thought they’d find more people to pet them or some snacks to eat while inside.

Cats Have No Fear

When gravity doesn’t seem to apply to you, it’s easy not to fear heights. One devoted cat owner became frantic when she couldn’t find her feline friend. She searched everywhere; his cat bed, her bed, and all his usual hiding spots. Finally, she went onto the porch and discovered him all stretched out. Did the cat realize his sleeping space is right next to a serious drop down a hill? Maybe, but he clearly didn’t care! If he falls, he knows he’ll land on his feet and be perfectly fine.

Must Be Involved

Cats have this innate desire to be involved in everything their owners do. Heading to the bathroom? Your cat wants to come. Trying to relax on the couch after a long day at work? You can expect your cat to sit right on top of your phone as you try to scroll through social media. In this case, a man bought a new toilet and dragged it into his bathroom. He took a break before installing it, and when he came back, he discovered his cat curled up in the brand-new toilet! The way the cat stares out at him is classic! Clearly, this cat wasn’t expecting to get caught.

What Are You Doing, Human?

Cats are notoriously not fans of water. Despite being able to swim just fine, there’s something about water that turns most cats into nervous Nellies. One person’s cat becomes very concerned every time their human goes to take a shower. The cat owner took a picture of their cat sitting on top of the shower doors one evening. They posted a photo to Reddit and explained that the cat always watches them as they shower as if they’re standing guard to make sure the water doesn’t hurt them. It’s a very sweet gesture, although it would probably turn into complete mayhem if the cat ever accidentally fell into the shower!

So Much For Pace Feeding

A lot of cat owners struggle with their pets eating too much too quickly. Not only can this be bad for an owner’s wallet, but it’s also unhealthy for their furry friend. A great method for preventing cats from overeating is pace feeding! Devices like the one in this picture only distribute a certain amount of food at a time, which keeps your cat from eating too much all at once. However, these little guys are incredibly smart, and when they want something, they’ll figure out how to get it. This cat was fed up with this pace feeding and managed to climb his way into the food dispenser! The owner probably didn’t see that coming.

Fur Ball, Corner Pocket

There’s nothing better than unwinding after a long day at work with a game of pool! It’s a great game, although it can be difficult to play with cats around. Our cute felines will often chase the balls around and swat them off the table, making it impossible to play the game. Many people will simply keep the cats out of their game rooms, but not all cats will take kindly to that. Take this kitty, for example. Rather than risk getting closed out of the room, the cat climbed into the pool table and hung out in the corner pocket. We hope the owner noticed and took this photo before he started playing!

An Unusual Friendship

It’s fun to hang out at your friend’s house sometimes, but most cats won’t venture outside of their comfort zone like this one did. Apparently, the turtle is the cat’s BFF, and the cat frequently sneaks into the turtle’s tank to chill with his buddy. This has to be one of the more unusual friendships we’ve seen between a cat and another animal, but it makes sense in a way. The tank is comfortable and warm, which makes the cat happy. And the cat gives the turtle another thing to climb on, which makes the turtle happy. It’s a win-win for everyone!

I Want To Swing

The first thing that ran through our heads when we saw this photo was the famous chorus from the song “Chandelier” by Sia. While it’s unlikely that the cat is actually trying to follow that song by swinging from this light fixture, we can’t help but chuckle. This kitten recently discovered he can climb, and his newfound love for heights is driving his owner crazy! It’s time to invest in a couple of good cat trees and make sure all the light fixtures in that house are screwed in properly!

Will Literally Sleep Anywhere But Cat Furniture

Cat lovers will instantly laugh when they see this picture. We’ve all known that one cat that will literally sleep anywhere except on their cat furniture. You could buy the most expensive and plush cat tree or bed, but still find your friend curled up in the strangest of places. An owner went looking for their cat on their property and stumbled across the cute fluffball sleeping in a bunch of cacti. Perhaps the kitty has a high pain tolerance or their fur is thick enough to keep them from feeling the thorns, but either way, this really doesn’t seem like a comfortable place to sleep.

Don’t Look At Me!

The utter shame on this cat’s face seriously has us cracking up! The poor fella probably didn’t expect things to end up the way they did, and he’s definitely questioning his decisions now. After running to the store, this owner placed a pack of water bottles on the floor while he attended to the rest of the groceries. This gorgeous orange cat saw his chance to claim a new resting spot and he took it without hesitation. Unfortunately, he got stuck, and gave his owner this helpless, pleading look once he was discovered. The owner was probably laughing his butt off when he took this picture! Maybe the cat will learn not to climb into packs of water bottles after this!

Boop The Nose

Not many grocery stores allow cats inside, but the ones that do probably see this a lot. One woman went down the cat food aisle, and her pet immediately leaped out of the shopping cart. He wedged himself between boxes of premium cat food and curled up for a nice nap. The owner reached out to boob is adorable little nose, and you could tell from the smile on her face that she was completely smitten with her pet. We bet she ended up buying him the premium food after this photo was taken.

You’ll Never Find Me

What is it with cats and their desire to worm themselves into freshly bought groceries? This kitty was banished from the kitchen after the owner caught him pawing through the new bags of groceries he’d just brought in. Moments later, the owner went to look for his fluffy friend and discovered the cat had stuffed himself into a package of paper towels. This isn’t the best hiding spot, but the cat doesn’t need to know that. Maybe the owner can lure him out with some tasty treats!

Secret Lovers

Unless you’re a professional breeder, it’s important to get your cats fixed as soon as possible. Once that’s done, you usually don’t have to worry about a secret love affair developing under your roof, but it can still happen! Some cats are simply crazy for each other, and it looks like these two cuties found the perfect spot for a secret rendevous. We can’t imagine the owner was too impressed when she found them cuddling in the refrigerator, but you can’t deny how adorable this couple is!

Instant Regret

Sometimes cats are able to defy the laws of physics, which gives them a dangerous level of overconfidence. This overconfidence can lead to moments where they try to force themselves into a space far too small, just like the kitty in the picture. A woman heard her cat crying in the bathroom, and when she went in to investigate, she found her furry friend with his head caught in a box of tissues! The poor kitty is probably terrified, with his head enclosed in a dark space that he can’t get out of. The owner removed the box and comforted the traumatized cat, who immediately tried to stick his head back in the box! All you can do is laugh at their antics and help them out when they instantly regret their decisions.

No Danger Here

You’d think that cats having such powerful instincts would be less likely to put themselves in harm’s way, but that’s clearly not the case. Here is a perfect example of an adorable cat making an awful decision. While looking for a cozy spot to curl up in a junkyard, this cat decided this car’s windshield would make the perfect napping spot. After all, it was in the sun and already had a perfectly shaped indentation for the cat to lay in. However, the windshield is clearly smashed, and the glass is a major hazard for that kitty. This is one of the few times where it’s acceptable to wake a sleeping cat!

You Can’t Escape Me

Remember when we mentioned that cats feel the need to be involved in everything their owners do? Well, that often applies to trips to the bathroom as well. Some owners make the mistake of trying to shut their cats out when they use the bathroom, but this is risky. Your clingy pet will find a way to stick by your side, no matter what! This person’s cat literally destroyed the vent in the bathroom, just so they had a reliable spot to watch the family while they did their business. The look on the cat’s face says it all. “You can’t escape me, so you should probably stop trying.”

Suspiciously Sweet

We all know cats can be devious little creatures, so it’s important to keep your wits about you at all times. This is especially important when your cat starts acting suspiciously sweet because it usually means they’re up to something! One devoted cat owner was trying to enjoy a delicious glass of iced coffee when their cat came over and rolled over on the table as if begging for belly rubs. Distracted by the cuteness, the owner took their eyes off their coffee for a moment to pet the cat. The next thing they knew, the cat reached out and knocked the glass over. There goes that person’s nice, relaxing morning. Time to clean up the mess!

Are You Missing A Cat?

Some people compare having pets to having children, and it can be an accurate comparison in some ways. When you come home to a note tapped on your door explaining your cat’s antics, it’s easy to feel like an exasperated parent. This woman came home from work one day to find a note tapped to her door. The note explained that the downstairs neighbors came home to find a broken ceiling tile and a cat in their apartment. The woman couldn’t help but laugh as she imagined her cat’s face as he plummeted into a different apartment.

The Wanderer

People who have owned many cats in their lives know that every once in a while a cat comes along that enjoys wandering. No matter how hard you try to keep your cat indoors or in your yard, the cat will find a way to escape and explore. It’s probably an instinctual thing, but it can be pretty worrying for cat owners. The kitty in this picture has taken his love of wandering to an extreme. He seems to be preparing to ride this train to discover new sights and smells. While he looks adorable sitting there, we hope the person who took this picture got the cat down from there!

Tell The Vet I’m Not Here

Most cats don’t enjoy trips to the vet. We can’t blame them, considering there are plenty of people who still fear going to a doctor or dentist well into adulthood. As humans, we logically understand the necessity of such visits, but it’s hard to explain that to a cat. This woman snapped a photo of her cat escaping into a cabinet when they arrived at the vet’s office. Apparently, her cat does this every trip and will hide in the cabinet until the vet makes them come out.

A Refreshing Glass Of Fluff

When the person who took this photo went into their kitchen, they were hoping to grab a refreshing glass of water after a hard day at work. They pulled out a glass, set it on the counter, and went over to the refrigerator. After pulling out a pitcher of cold water, they turned around to discover their kitten had squished himself into the glass. Not only is this hilarious, but it’s also incredibly cute. The little kitten looks very pleased with itself for finding such a unique hiding spot. We wonder if the owner had to coax them out of the glass or if the cat came out on its own.

He’s Just Hanging Out

When a man invited his friends over for the weekend, he probably didn’t expect his cat to become their main source of entertainment. However, the cat wanted to be a good host, and took it upon himself to devise clever ways of keeping the humans entertained. At one point, the kitty scaled the bathroom door and simply hung from the top in an impressive display of athleticism. We imagine the cat sprang away only moments after this photo was taken to find another spot to climb. Things are never dull when you have a cat around!

College Is Exhausting

Speak to any college student, and they’ll agree that classes are exhausting. You have so much to learn in so little time, and the papers you’re expected to write are massive projects! It’s not unusual for college students to need a nap every now and again, but they usually nap at home or in their dorm. Somehow, a cat snuck into this lecture and decided to curl up on this student’s desk for a nice nap. We can only imagine the jealousy all these students must have felt as they watched the cat sleep peacefully. Maybe they can just turn that class into a napping period that week.

I Can’t See Them, So They Can’t See Me

Out of all the hiding places this cat could have chosen, he had to choose the most obvious spot in the entire bathroom! Cats are well known for finding odd spots to hide and then popping out at their owners when it’s least expected, but we can’t say the owner would be particularly startled by this hiding spot. The silly cat decided to stretch out underneath the bathmat, and you can easily see his little paws sticking out. He was probably thinking something along the lines of “I can’t see them, so they can’t see me.”

Spy Cat

Some cats are perfectly content to hang out in the strangest of places. Cats often love finding a high vantage point where they can watch over the humans and all the goings-on around them. One man went down into his basement to do some work and immediately felt a sense of dread. He felt as though he was being watched, and after looking around for a moment, he discovered he was right! His cat was hanging out in the ceiling and watching his every move. The cat is like a little spy, and we can only imagine how creeped out his owner must have felt when he realized he’d been watched for so long!

Must Get The Birds

Anyone who’s had the pleasure of owning an outdoor cat knows these furry creatures will stop at nothing to get their pretty. Some cats prefer to chase squirrels or mice, but most enjoy hunting down birds. The person who took this photo put up a beautiful bird feeder in their yard to attract the local bird population, but she didn’t count on her cat to be so sly. The cat climbed up the bird feeder to chase a bird and then decided to settle in for a while. It’s a comfy spot, and maybe more birds will come along! The owner will probably want to rethink having a bird feeder in their yard.

New Favorite Spot

Indoor cats are sometimes more attracted to houseplants than their owners anticipate. It’s probably an instinctual thing, but it’s a powerful urge these cats have to curl up in the comfortable plants. Having no fear of climbing to the very top, this cat scaled the planter and settled in for a nice long nap. The owner probably threw their hands up and realized there was no way to stop their cat from obsessing over these plants, so they took a picture and left them for their nap. We have to admit, the kitty looks very happy and comfortable there!

Not The Glassware

Let’s set the scene. You’ve just woken up, and you’re exhausted. You go into the kitchen to make a much-needed cup of coffee. When you open the cabinet to grab a mug, you see a pair of glowing eyes staring back at you! The person who took this picture nearly jumped out of their skin when this exact scenario happened to them. Their cat was just hanging out in the cabinet among all the glassware, and it’s very lucky that the cat didn’t accidentally break a glass and hurt themselves. It’s time to buy childproof locks for your cabinets to keep your cats out!

Let Me Out!

People living in safe areas often let their cats outside during the day, but many don’t feel comfortable letting their beloved pets roam the streets. But the call of nature is powerful, and many cats will try everything they can think of to win their freedom. This cat somehow managed to squeeze itself between the window pane and the screen in a desperate attempt to make its way outside. The owner found the cat stuck in the middle, staring helplessly back inside. Hopefully, the kitten learned its lesson and will avoid any future escape attempts!
