17. Calm Handmade Fabrics
Wild, bright-hued statement fabrics like Shibori, or Japanese tie-dye, have had their moment recently. However, 2021 decorators are looking to incorporate calmer, more muted handmade and artisan textiles into their spaces. Sustainable jutes, muslins, organic bamboos, and other natural materials are going to see a resurgence with their delicate, airy textures and natural, muted finishes. These fabrics will fit into many of 2021’s most prominent styles, especially the artisan and biophilia design movements. Scrap fabric pieces, especially those that incorporate florals, also will make beautiful editions to rooms featuring 2021’s delicate and jewel tones.
