39. Play Dress Up

Boys and girls love to play dress up at an early age. Childhood is a time to discover, explore, and pretend to be anything they want to be. Encourage your kids to play dress up, especially when they’re stuck inside for long periods of time. In my family, my mother kept an old wooden trunk filled with all of our Halloween costumes. We were allowed to open the trunk at any time of year if we wanted to play dress up. This was a great opportunity for us to be creative, especially when we go to swap into our sibling’s costumes sometimes.

One of the best times to stock up on costumes for dress up is immediately after Halloween, when costumes go on clearance. If you’re too late, don’t worry. It’s still possible to buy costumes online of your child’s favorite characters. Many parents will list these costumes secondhand on eBay, which have only been worn once.
