
39. Soda Bottle Planters
In the United States, pretty much every family has at least one 2-liter plastic soda bottle in their house. Normally, these are thrown in the trash or recycling bin without a second thought. If you have kids, you may want to consider making them into DIY planters. This can become a valuable lesson to teach your children about recycling and sustainability. All you need to get started are a pair of scissors, paint, and a sharpie.

Cut the bottle in half, and cut the plastic so that it has ears like a bear, cat, or dog. Paint the outside of the bottle, and use a sharpie to draw on the face of the animal. Plants need to drain the water from the bottom of their planters, so you will also want to poke holes into the “feet” of the bottle.
