With everyone staying at home more, it only makes sense to totally embrace our surroundings. Whether you’re looking to shop for yourself, or find a gift for a friend, there’s almost always a reason to buy a home accessory. The only issue is that many affordable home decor products are a bit tacky, or trendy to the point where it will be out of style year from now. Here at Home Addict, we have put together a list of products that are chic and classy, all for under $40 each. These should stay in style for years to come.

40. This Face Statue is Both Art and a Vase in One

A great way to easily add an element of design to your home is by swapping out your plain flower vases for sculptural ones. There are a lot of different sculptural vases on the market for under $40. They come in all shapes and sizes, so you don’t necessarily have to choose this one in particular. Find a sculptural vase that fits in with your home current aesthetic. However, I personally chose this gorgeous bust of a woman’s face and neck. There is something so beautiful about the feminine figure, and it has been admired for most of human history. When you think about statues you see in museums, they’re still admired for their beauty, no matter how old they are.

Busts of heads and shoulders have been popular home decor for hundreds of years, especially in stately homes. Most places will pay homage to a celebrity or historic figure, but his one in particular seems to represent femininity as a whole. And when you add flowers inside, it almost looks like the woman is wearing a flower crown on top of her head. This shouldn’t go out of style for a long time. And as long as your house is still decorated in the same style, it should still fit in with your decor, until you’re ready for a makeover.

39. The Kinfolk Garden is a Beautiful Coffee Table Book

In 2020, there was a significant increase in the amount of people who decided to start gardening in their backyards. With more people in touch with nature, it only makes sense that we want to learn more about plants. A great idea is to buy a coffee table book that has something to do with gardening. Personally, I love coffee table books, because they make it easy for you to display who you are as a person and just a quick glance. They also add a lot of texture and dimension to a room.

For this list, I chose the Kinfolk Garden Book. Kinfolk is an interior design magazine that sometimes publishes coffee table books. This year, they released The Kinfolk Garden, highlighting some of the beautiful photographs of gardens they have collected. It gives you a lot of inspiration for a project you might want to do in your own backyard, but it also lets your guests know that you are a gardener. In the reviews, people aren’t too happy with his book, because it’s mostly photos of houseplants without much gardening advice. Keep in mind that this book is more about the classy aesthetic it gives you, rather than the knowledge you’d learn.

38. Wood Carrier Bag is Both Stylish and Utilitarian

Anyone who has a working fireplace or wood stove already knows the struggle of chopping wood and bringing it inside. If you harvest your own wood from your land, it’s a huge process to get everything inside. Growing up, my dad would actually bring the wheelbarrow inside of our house, which would track in a lot of mud and snow on the floor. Obviously, this was problematic, and caused a lot of cleanup and stress. This made it a huge chore to bring in wood.

A wood carrier bag just makes so much sense, and it will surely make your life easier for some of you out there. Not only does it look beautiful, but it serves the purpose of giving you a sturdy bag to carry your logs inside. If you’re clever enough to keep your wood in a dry place, you won’t have to worry about getting the bag wet, either. Even if you rarely use your fireplace, or if it’s just there for aesthetic reasons, this still might be a good accessory to have on-hand. This would make a great gift to give someone who has a fireplace, and they regularly carry wood inside.

37. This Round Hammered Bowl is Very Chic

Large bowls are a common home decor item, especially on a kitchen island or coffee table. They can hold other objects inside purely for decorative purposes, so it only makes sense that you want something that’s a statement piece. This gold bowl is hand hammered, and it’s just stunning. It looks far more expensive than the asking price. As an added bonus, this just might help manifest wealth. In Feng Shui, having the color gold in your house is a sign of wealth, and it’s supposed to help bring in the flow of abundance into your home. Even if you don’t necessarily believe in Feng Shui, it couldn’t hurt, right?

If you love the look of hammered metal bowls, consider purchasing other kitchen items in the same style. While browsing on Amazon, I found an entire set of cooking tools shown in the image above. There are flour containers, measuring spoons, bowls, and so much more. This style is so classic, it should still look great on your countertops for years to come without being in danger of going out of style. It could also be a great housewarming gift to give someone who you know is moving into their first place, and just starting out.

38. These Golden Hanging Photo Frames Are a Beautiful Way to Display Objects and Art

Nearly everyone has family photos in their home. It’s very common for people to keep the pictures in frames either on the top of a table, or hanging on the wall. Picture frames can be very cheap. They even sell them at Dollar Tree! But the only downside is that when they’re too affordable, it can translated into poor quality. If you want something that’s more stylish than what you typically find in the store, check out these hanging photo frames.

These hanging frames are made of glass and a gold-colored metal. But the great thing about these is that since there is clear glass, you can really put anything inside. A lot of people choose to put dried pressed flowers or leaves inside of the glass so that it becomes a piece of art. It could also be a way for you to display some items that mean a lot to you, like sentimental ticket stubs. The sky’s the limit with what you could do with these.

37. This Glass Beaker Terrarium Helps Propagate Plants

In case you didn’t know, it’s possible to essentially clone your plant and make it into new plants for free! This is a process called propagation. Many gardeners choose to place cuttings into a cup of water, and put the cup in the sun. Then, they wait for the roots to grow before transferring the new plant into the soil. The only issues with this is that normally, cups are so wide that the plant is going to droop over. So this terrarium is designed specifically for the perfect propagation station.

So, if you or anyone you know is thinking about trying plant propagation from cuttings, this glass beaker terrarium is a great choice. The glass beakers make it possible for you to clearly see the root growth, and you can keep multiple plants side-by-side. It’s small enough to fit on a window sill, or it can be placed in a greenhouse. Some people choose to hang these on their wall, which immediately turns it into a work of art, rather than a botony project. Just make sure your plants are getting enough sunlight if you want them to grow.

Everyone has heard of a wine bucket, but not everyone wants to go through the trouble of using it. Browsing through the Amazon listing, I saw that a lot of people use this as a vase, as well. Let’s face it. We can’t have fancy dinner parties right now. So I love the idea of having this as a stylish and elegant vase that you can also use as a wine cooler when you want to. If you don’t already have marble countertops in your kitchen, this can be a great way to incorporate the luxurious stone into your home without spending a lot of money.

35. This Copper Dog Treat Container is a Beautiful Way to Reward Your Good Boy or Girl

Anyone who has a pet keeps dog or cat treats in their house. The only issue is that those boxes and bags tend to look unattractive sitting on your counter. If you’re trying to make your kitchen look stylish and perfect, it’s best to put those treats away somewhere. If you’ve read our article filled with advice based on The Home Edit, you already know that putting items in clear containers is a stylish choice. However, that doesn’t really help if you are trying to empty multiple treat boxes into one container. Or, maybe you don’t have a pantry to put these containers away in the first place.

When I found this copper dog treat container, I knew it had to go on this list. It’s such a perfect thing to keep on your countertop. If you already have copper accents in your kitchen, it’s even better. The same company also sells different color variety. In the photo above, you can see how they have one that is silver colored with rose gold lids and labels. This would also be a great gift to give someone who has a dog, and who also appreciates metal accessories in their home.

34. Agate Bookends Are a Beautiful Addition to a Shelf

When you’re trying to decorate a bookshelf, it’s a good idea to incorporate some other objects besides books. A lot of people choose sculptural pieces and vases. Obviously, bookends are always a good choice. If you’re trying to tie in natural elements to your home, crystal bookends are a beautiful way to accomplish that. This might be a great thing to have around your home office, because it can help to alleviate any stress you may be feeling from work. Even if you don’t believe in crystal healing, just the fact that this represents such a wonderful thing is surely an added bonus.

33. This Mirror Tray is Perfect for Perfume and More

Mirror trays have been a popular way for people to keep their perfume collections for a very long time. It’s common to find gold filigree mirrored perfume trays at antique stores. Nowadays, the style is a lot more streamlined, like this rectangular mirror tray. Obviously, you can store anything on one of these, like jewelry, trinkets, and beauty products. This is an item that will easily look good in most homes, no matter what your current aesthetic may be. It is also a good gift to give someone, especially if they’re young and still building their beauty collection.

Before you buy this tray, take note of the size above. Admittedly, it’s not that big. And if you look at a store like Home Goods, you are likely to find a similar style for the same price. Personally, I believe that you should have a larger surface than you really need. As time goes on, your perfume or jewelry collection may grow. You want to give space to these new objects, instead of feeling rushed to use them. For example, I like to keep my used bottles of Chanel perfume, because I think they’re elegant. But my space is so small, it’s getting crowded! Always go for a bigger tray, if at all possible.

32. This Golden Bull Statue Helps With Feng Shui for Wealth Manifestation

If you’re familiar with the stock market, you already know that a bull run is a term used when the prices of stocks are going up. Stock traders love this, and are always hoping for a bull run rather than a bear market, which means the market is slow and going downhill. It turns out that in the Chinese are both Feng Shui, the bull also represents wealth as well. Gold is also a symbol of wealth and prosperity. So it only makes sense that this gold bull statue exists.

I know what you’re thinking- Who wants a huge bull statue in their house? This might seem too gaudy. But in the photos shown on the product listing, you’ll see that it’s actually very small. It can easily fit on top of a desk, or become part of a larger vignette on top of a dresser. Personally, I would love to have this, especially since I already have gold accents elsewhere. If you believe in the power of symbols, or know someone who does, this might be a good gift.

Everyone needs a set of measuring cups if they plan to do any cooking or baking at home. Most people already have a set in their house, but it doesn’t hurt to have another one. (This is especially true if there are multiple people cooking in your household.) For this list, I chose a goal set of measuring cups and spoons. Obviously, gold is going to add glitz & glam into your decor. This works especially well if you already have a lot of other gold accents in your house. It might also make a good gift to give a friend who you know is a huge fan of gold.

Browsing through product reviews, people seem to absolutely love these measuring spoons. They’re actually perfect if you want to take Instagram photos while you’re cooking. Obviously, these are not made of real gold, which would be incredibly expensive. Even simply looking like gold is enough to impress a lot of people. And if you’r feeling extra bougie, you can find gold colored forks, knives, and spoons to go in your kitchen as well.

Macrame wall hangings were in style back in the 1960s and 70s. These were especially popular among hippies. But they never really went out of style for anyone who was into boho beach vibes. In recent years, you’ve probably seen macrame all over Pinterest. It has definitely come back in style. And it’s one of those things where even if it gets out of popularity, it will loop back around again at some point in the future. Macrame art is amazing, and it adds a lot of texture and variety, especially in a neutral space.

When you browse Etsy, it’s very common for people to ask $100 for something like this to hang in your home, especially with the larger sizes. While it’s possible for you to buy kits online and make your own, it’s far easier to buy something that’s pre-made. This listing is for two small macrame hanging banners for just two for $23.

29. Textured Throw Blankets Are Always a Good Idea

When you are searching for a throw blanket for your home, always keep in mind that a textured blanket is far more stylish. For one, adding textures to your home gives an added layer of dimension that’s really pleasing to the eye. It’s also simply more interesting to look at compared to a plain solid color fleece blanket that you might find somewhere like Walmart. Normally, these blankets would cost a lot of money. When you see something that appears to be hand knit, it’s almost always expensive. But I found some options for you on Amazon that are very affordable. This would look stylish hanging over your couch, chair, or the end of your bed.

If you’re on a very tight budget, I suggest going to your local thrift store and searching for vintage crochet blankets. These were incredibly popular years ago, but now there are few people who have the time or patience to make them. These blankets will last for decades. I own a blanket that is over 100 years old, and was passed down through several generations! Not only will this have texture, but there is also something great about knowing that an object has a long history.

28. This Japanese Pottery is Officially Used For Making Matcha

If you love to order matcha drinks at your local Starbucks, it’s easier than you would imagine to make it at home. In Japan, they have a traditional way of preparing matcha green tea powder. You need to put the powder in a ceramic bowl, and a small amount of hot water. Then, you use a bamboo whisk to mix the water with the powder to remove any clumps. At that point, the matcha is highly concentrated at the bottom of the bowl. This is usually when it is poured into a mug so that you can add almond milk or anything else that you want into your latte.

Obviously, you can do the same thing with any ceramic bowl that you might have in your cabinet at home. However, these Japanese bowls are just so exquisitely beautiful. This is the type of item that you can leave out on display in open shelving and feel proud to have it in your kitchen. In general, Japanese pottery is something that some homeowners collect overtime. This is a great starter piece for anyone who doesn’t already have these ceramics in their home.

27. Customize Your Family Crest Flag

Family crest items are a really popular market, especially in the United Kingdom. You can buy almost anything with your family crest including keychains, glassware, blankets, and more. If you just so happen to come from a country that held the tradition of family crests, you might want to consider incorporating that into your home decor. In my house, we have a small garden flag with an image of the Quinn family crest that I gave to my parents as a gift. This was very affordable, and it’s not too flashy. You can’t see it from the road, and really only notice it once you approach our front door. This is why I’ve added it to this list, because I feel like it’s the perfect way to show some family pride without going over the top.

If you come from a country where people didn’t have a family crest, you can always design your own. Or, if you happen to be a fan of a particular royal family from history, you could find an object made in their likeness. For example, at the Queen’s house, Windsor Castle, there are tons of souvenirs featuring her family crest. Other people choose to identify with fictional family crests, like the many houses in Game of Thrones. Continuing on with the Japandi vibes, I’ve added a Bonsai tree to this list. The tradition of keeping potted bonsai trees has been a tradition in China, Korea, and Japan. Buddhist monks would tend to these trees so that they could keep nature inside of their temples. There are a lot of different types of potted trees, but here in the United States, we use “bonsai tree” more as a blanket term to cover all of these tiny plants.

Having any plant in your home adds an element of style, clears the air, and simply feels wonderful. But there is something so special about a bonsai tree, because you need to pour so much love, time, and care into making it flourish. Some bonsai trees have lived for over 100 years, so this could even be something you pass down through your family. If you’re trying to incorporate Japandi style into your house, it can also be a great way to make that more obvious, since most people associate bonsai trees with Japan.

And if you’re on a budget, you could choose to buy the individual pieces from this set, instead. I have the stapler, and I love it.

24. This Tea Infusion Pot Gives a Sneak Peek of What's Inside

For anyone who enjoys steeping loose leaf tea for flowering teas, you already know that you can’t fully experience the process in a ceramic teapot. There are teapots on the market which are made entirely of glass. These are beautiful, but fragile. So when I saw this teapot with a little clear window, I feel like it gives you the best of both worlds. It’s far more sturdy and less likely to break, but it gives you the ability to watch flowering tea.

As seen in the photo above, the pot comes with a strainer attachment to allow you to pour in loose tea. This can also hold tea bags, if you have those to use up in your collection. Whether you’re hosting guests, or simply enjoying a cozy night in, it’s great to treat yourself to some beautiful tea. As an added bonus, these look amazing on Instagram.

23. These Sleek Black Candle Sticks Are Very Modern

There are plenty of candlesticks on the market to choose from. You can even go to Dollar Tree and pick up some candlesticks to transform them into your own style. (Check out our article on Dollar Tree Craft Ideas for inspiration.) However, if you’re looking for a certain modern aesthetic, these sleek black metal candle sticks might be a great choice for you. What I like about these candle sticks is that they should be able to blend in with almost any decor. And if you ever get tired of the black, you can spray paint them into an entirely different color one day.

Many of the items on this list are good for both yourself, or to give as a gift. However, I would caution you from giving candle sticks away as a gift. This is something that can be such a personal preference. Some people would also rather not light candles at the dinner table, especially if they have kids who could knock them over and start a fire. Yes, they sell LED candle versions. But if you’re giving a gift, it’s best not to presume that your friend wants them, unless they tell you directly.

22. These Candles Help Your Dreams Come True

In case you don’t know, manifestation is the process of focusing on your goals, and opening up your spirit to the possibilities life can bring. Basically, if you learn how to manifest, you can make your dreams come true. Some people call it “The Law of Attraction”, while others simply see it as shifting your focus to take action on accomplishing your goals. This candle is made by a Wiccan company called The Art of The Root that has added oils, herbs, and even citrine crystals to encourage manifestation. It smells like orange and vanilla. Once the candle has burned down, you can keep the citrine crystals. Citrine is supposed to help motivate you to take action on your goals. Even if you don’t necessarily believe in this on a spiritual level, the candle is still very cool.

We’ve also added a photo of another candle from Art of The Root, which is called “Self Love”. Sadly, a lot of insecurity that we feel in society comes from a lack of self-love. When you love yourself more, it becomes easier to love those around us. The company sells several different types of candles, depending on what you want to bring into your life. When you think about it, it’s basically the same price as a candle from Bath and Body Works. So instead of giving your friend something that smells nice, you’re giving them something that represents the fact that you support their dreams.

21. This Olive Oil Dispenser is Basically a Sculpture

If you do a lot of cooking, you probably have an olive oil dispenser. This makes it a lot easier to spread just a small amount of oil onto your pans before you do anything frying. Clear glass olive oil dispenser bottles are available at Dollar Tree. They’re nothing special, and it’s very common in a lot of people’s kitchens. So if you want something that looks or sculptural on your kitchen countertop, consider this fancy olive oil dispenser.

Take some time to browse through the listings online, and find something that fits your aesthetic. No matter what brand you buy from, you’ll be almost guaranteed to find it for $20 or less.

20. This Pour-Over Coffee Maker Is Simple and Stylish

With so many fancy coffee makers on the market today, it can be hard to choose what you want. And unfortunately, brands like Keurig and Nespresso make you buy pods that are not good for the environment. If you’re looking for something that’s more simple and straightforward, consider having a pour-over coffee maker.

There are a few different styles on the market, but I chose this one because it looks very chic. All you have to do is boil water in a kettle on your stove top. Prepare the pour over coffee maker by placing a coffee filter inside and put the coffee grounds into the filter. Once the water is done boiling, you simply pour it over the coffee grounds and it will drip down into the pot. This is very simple to use, easy to clean, and much better for the environment.

19. This Marble Rolling Pin is Both Stylish and Useful

If you’re looking for a rolling pin to do some baking, consider getting one that’s made of marble. Not only is it very chic and stylish, but there is actually a practical reason why some people use marble. When you’re baking pastry, you need to keep the dough cold. A lot of people will actually put the dough back in the freezer a few times if they’re making puff pastry, because the heat from your hands is enough to make it too warm. Marble maintains a cool temperature better than wood, so it helps keep dough cool for a longer period of time.

Aside from the practical element of this rolling pin, it is really pretty. Even if you don’t bake a lot, it can be a really beautiful addition to your kitchen accessories, especially if you already have marble countertops. On the flip side, it can be a great way to incorporate marble into your kitchen if you don’t have any at all. For example, in my home, we have wood block countertops. But we have a marble rolling pin and cutting board, which adds just enough luxury into the space.

18. Display Matches in a Decorative Container Beside Your Candles

Most people who have scented candles keep those cheap black lighters that you find at the dollar store. There is nothing wrong with these types of lighters, but they don’t add any elegance to your home. Lighting candles is a great way to help you feel cozy at the end of the day. Most people love to get scented candles from somewhere like Bath & Body Works or Yankee Candle, because they can help make your home smell amazing. While there’s nothing wrong with that, you don’t always want a scent when you light a candle. This is especially true if you’re trying to light candles around the dinner table. These bee’s wax candles are handmade and all natural. Beeswax is special, because the consistency of their wax is very thick, and it lasts a very long time. They burn slowly, and drip far less than other candles made of paraffin wax. Some even go as far as to call them “drip free”. Of course, these particular candles have a cute little honeycomb pattern along the edge of the candle, which reminds you that they came from bees. Since bee’s wax is more rare and expensive, giving this gift to a friend is like giving them a far more luxurious version of your typical candle.

This would also be a great gift to give someone if you know that they enjoy hobbies like scrapbooking. They might already have an idea in mind that they can get working on right away.

15. A Full Set of Painted Ceramic Vases

Ceramic vases are a popular choice no matter what type of style your house is decorated in. For example, if you find a lot of inspiration from Japanese homes, you might want to go with Japanese pottery. Or if you want something more Farmhouse style, you might want to check out some of the vases that are available from Joanna Gaines’ brand at Target called Hearth and Hand. 14. These Floating Shelves Are Unique

Buying a floating shelf for your home is very common. It’s a great way to free up space by keeping things on your wall. Stores like Walmart and IKEA carry various styles that you can choose from. But this particular floating shelf is incredibly stylish and unique. The shelves are connected by ropes, which gives a sense of whimsy almost like a lot ladder leading up to a treehouse. There is something about marble that is universally understood to be luxurious. When you walk into a kitchen with marble countertops, you immediately say “wow”. The style of these lanterns is made to look like they have been around for 100 years. These are not real antiques, but your family and friends just might be convinced otherwise. It’s possible to put a real candle inside of these lanterns, but you may want to consider purchasing an LED candle instead. 8. Shag Rugs Have Been In Style For a While

Shag rugs have been popular for years, especially back in the 1960’s. Nowadays, you don’t see them as often as you once did. But that doesn’t make them any less stylish or comfortable. (If you’re a vegan, it’s possible to get a faux fur shag rug, so please don’t be offended by this suggestion!) Shag rugs work very well in the Hollywood Regency style, but it also gives you this sense of glamour. Personally, I feel like it’s something you would see in a 20-something female’s apartment.

Shag rugs are so fluffy, some people even use them as blankets. But for the most part, they’re a throw rug that sits on your floor. Some popular places are just beside your bed, so that your feet step onto something warm first thing in the morning. It can also be very cozy if you like to play board games on the floor with family and friends. The one and only downside is that they may be difficult to keep clean. Sine it’s literally fur, you can’t throw it in the washing machine and expect it to be okay. Check out tutorials online before attempting to clean it.

I believe that every house needs a good butter dish. If you’re planning a big family breakfast or a meal like Thanksgiving, it’s customary to put butter on the table so that people can spread it on their rolls or toast. Leaving butter on a plate while it softens runs the risk of flies landing on it, which is why there is a lid. This may even work well for elegant picnic parties, so long as you’re careful not to break the ceramic. I love this butter dish in particular, because of its elegant Shabby Chic style.

Obviously, butter is dairy, and will spoil if you leave it out for too long. Unlike the bread box, this isn’t something that you can put on your counter and forget about. If you’re in a house full of adults, it may be possible to keep this butter dish in the fridge and take it out as-needed. But in a bustling household where things can easily break, I recommend only using this for special occasions. It could also make a good gift to give someone as a housewarming present, because not everyone would think to buy themselves a butter dish.

Here in the United States, bread boxes are not as common as they are in Europe. While bread doesn’t need to be refrigerated, a lot of people tend to leave their bread in the fridge if they want to keep it off the counter. This can have a negative effect, because the bread can get crushed by the food. Bread boxes really do make a lot of sense to keep on your kitchen counter. When I was staying in England, I noticed how easy it was to keep the countertop near and tidy because of the bread box, and it’s something that I want for my own home someday.

Over the past few years, minimalism has become popular once again. Everyone is realizing that you don’t need a lot of things in order to be happy. Instead of being a full scene or intricately detailed painting, abstract art is all about lines and simple color schemes.

I chose this print in particular because the black lines can either look like scribbles, or interlocking faces. Keeping board games in your house is a great idea for long winters when your kids can’t go outside to play. Obviously, TicTacToe is so easy that adults tend to get bored of it quickly. So this might only be amusing for your kids up until a certain age. However, even if someone is too old to play anymore, this is one of those decorative game sets that still looks beautiful and elegant even if no one is playing it regularly. This is similar to how many people like to keep a chess set in display (especially if they are fans of The Queen’s Gambit.) if you’re a household full of adults, you may want to search for a chess set with your $40 instead.
