The Impressive Scale of Germany’s Konigstein Castle
The photo of Germany’s Konigstein Castle provides a sense of scale that is often missing from travel photography. The massive walls of the castle were made to be impregnable, and the photo captures the true height of the walls. If you look closely towards the bottom right, you can see a tiny human figure that helps give a sense of how tall the walls actually are. Despite being never occupied, the fortress is still an impressive structure. Interestingly, a chimney sweeper once managed to scale the walls, but he was promptly detained by guards after reaching the top.
