The Spooky Catacombs of Paris
These underground tunnels were originally old quarries but have now become the final resting place of around six million Parisians. Many of these are anonymous skulls and bones taken from overcrowded graveyards during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It’s not just the sheer number of bones that make the catacombs eerie but also the way they have been arranged. The bones have been used to create macabre displays that are both fascinating and spine-chilling. It’s no wonder that this strange location has become a popular tourist attraction.
