A Prehistoric-Looking Creature That Still Exists Today
This photo showcases a small yet fascinating creature called the armadillo girdled lizard, found on Africa’s southwestern coast. It looks frighteningly similar to its prehistoric relatives, and its defensive posture of biting its own tail is meant to protect its soft underbelly. This little lizard closely resembles another spiny reptilian called an Ouroborus, which also curls up in a similar defensive posture. Seeing this creature in person would be like taking a trip back in time to the era of the dinosaurs or dragons.
