A Martian-like Landscape
Do you fancy a trip to Mars? How about a visit to Goblin Valley State Park in Utah instead? This uninhabited valley, located 216 miles southeast of Salt Lake City, is home to an otherworldly landscape that looks like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie. The strange pinnacles or hoodoos, formed by the erosion of soft sandstone by wind and water, have an eerie resemblance to goblins – hence the name Goblin Valley. The unique landscape spans only about a mile across and two miles long, but there’s plenty to explore. Walking along the marked trails will take you up close to the bizarre formations, and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped onto another planet.
